Bertha Foster worked at Vandenberg Air Force Base in Lompoc, California. The base was very large and spread out, so she didn’t interact with many civilians. She met Martin Sheen once when he was apprehended for protesting with Greenpeace. She had positive experiences during her time in the military and felt a sense of camaraderie with the other people at the base.
